Maybe I should give more explanation before I declare myself the real life villain. So, kids name their toys, it's just a fact of life. Sometimes they name their toys really inappropriate things (like this video from the Island of Misnamed toys, at least none of ours live there), and sometimes pretty innocuous.
For instance:

And then there's the villain toy, Dr. Tam. No really, she named her villain toy Dr. Tam.

Right, so here I am furiously working on getting my PhD, and my daughter associates people named doctor with being the bad guy. I'm looking at you Phineas and Ferb.
That was a very cute post. I remember when my daughters used to do this. But alas, my twins are 12 now and they no longer play the name game the same way. They consider themselves more sophisticated and use a Baby Name Book.
ReplyDeleteI can't recall if they generally associated the Dr. title with something evil but I do remember that at age 3-5 (the age of vaccines) they definately thought their primary care physician was their nemesis!
Our primary care physician has very carefully avoided being the person to deliver immunizations, so my daughter only hates the nurses.

ReplyDeleteTrue, but I think she was trying to imitate Phineas and Ferb with Perry's nemesis, Dr. Doofenshmirtz. And yeah, in her play she casts Dr. Tam as the bad guy. So yeah, it's the evil toy...

Sinister is great name for a good guy. And according to the evil overlord handbook, one should dress in bright cheery colors to throw off the good guys...

Yeah, every time I go to spell Dr. D, I have to look it up too. He's a fantastic villain. I sometimes go around the lab and name things like he would. So I don't have analyzers, I have analyzinators, and instead of vacuum pumps I have pumpinators. My lab mates think I"m nuts...
DeleteKids have an unnerving capacity for this. Wait till she starts naming you. I get called tubby, baldatron, old guy and many others. Naming toys in mild in comparison.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I'm going to have to say that baldatron isn't very nice. But if we're talking about nicknames, I've survived a number of fairly embarrassing ones, so I'm well armed there...
