I think the trap some aspiring authors fall into is pointing out well-known books with large word counts as examples to why they should be allowed to query long books. However, such examples are usually from established authors. For example, the first published books from Stephen King (Carrie) and J.K. Rowling (first Harry Potter) were relatively short.

ReplyDeleteWorth waiting for! I'm very unwordy - novella length is perfect for me (or perhaps, short novel) but that is just as limiting as writing too long.
